The South Carolina Mental Health care system for children and youth is in crisis. Too many youth with behavioral and/or mental health concerns in South Carolina have no place to go for the level of care they need. State budget cuts have led to severe reductions in the number of psychiatric beds and state run programs. In addition, families are in danger of loosing critical services such as school based mental health counselors and WRAP services.

1 in 5 children and youth will experience a mental illness at some state in their lives. Mental Health services must be restored in order for our youth to succeed. That is why I have created a petition to Governor Mark Sanford to reconsider current budget cuts to our states mental health system. Please consider signing it along with me at

http://www.gopetition.com/online/24575.html

I will print and mail to Governor Mark Sanford on Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Please feel free to forward this email to your contact list!
